Keynote Speaker:
Antonia Novello MD
Dr. Antonia Novello, M.D., M.P.H., Dr.P.H. was the 14th Surgeon General of the United States. She was the first woman and first Hispanic to become Surgeon General. During her 1990-1993 tenure as Surgeon General, Dr. Novello focused on the health of women, children and minorities, as well as on underage drinking, teen smoking and AIDS.

She later served as Commissioner of Health for the State of New York from 1999 to 2006 and helped coordinate the emergency response during the tragic attack of September 11, 2001.
Currently, Dr. Novello serves as the Executive Director of public health policy for Florida Hospital in Orlando, part of Adventist Health System.

Kevin Accola, MD
Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery, FH
Dr. Kevin Accola received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago in 1984.He is board certified in General Surgery as well as Cardiothoracic Surgery. Kevin is an executive board member of the the Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute and head of the Institute's Heart Valve Division. He initiated a Center of Excellence valve training program at Florida Hospital with over 100 surgeons nationally and internationally who have come to observe his valve procedures at Florida Hospital. He had numerous publications and book chapters as well as lectured throughout the United States and internationally.
Vincent Hsu, MD
Medical Director of Continuing Medical Education at FH
Dr. Vincent Hsu is the Director for Continuing Medical Education and Assistant Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Florida Hospital. A graduate from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine, he completed fellowship in Infectious Disease at USC and Public Health at UCLA. He was an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention investigating the 2001 anthrax attacks and SARS epidemic, in addition to other public health research. His areas of interests include preventing hospital infections and educating physicians to promote patient safety.

Sigfredo Aldarondo, MD, FCCP
Medical Director of Multidisciplinary ICU, FH
Sigfredo Aldarondo has practiced Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine in Central Florida since 1986. A graduate of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, he has consistently been recognized as one of the top physicians in his field and has served in different capacities with the University of Central Florida, Florida Hospital leadership, as well as diverse community and faith-based initiatives in the Central Florida area. One of many topics of interest that Dr. Aldarondo is particularly interested in is healthcare and its impact on our society.

Allen A. Nimetz, MD
Chairman of Subsection of Cardiology: Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, MD
Allen Nimetz is a clinical and interventional cardiologist in private practice in Chevy Chase, Maryland. His practice experience spans several decades and three distinct practice models. He holds faculty appointments at Georgetown University Medical School and the George Washington University Medical School. He is on the active staff of several hospitals in Washington DC and Bethesda, Maryland including the Washington Hospital Center, Georgetown, Sibley Memorial Hospital and Suburban Hospital where he is Chairman of the Subsection of Cardiology. He received his medical and Cardiology education and training at Cornell University Medical College, The Mount Sinai Hospital and The Massachusetts General Hospital where he held the concomitant position of Fellow in Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Armando R. Payas, JD
Armando earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Florida State University. In 1983 he was admitted to the Florida Bar.  For the first 10 years of his practice Armando defended insurance companies and providers as a partner with the Orlando law firm of Parker & Johnson. Later he has put that experience to work representing individual client concerns. Armando has been admitted in U.S. District Court, Middle and Southern District of Florida, U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit, American Bar Association, Florida Bar Association, Orange County Bar Association, Hispanic Bar Association and The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers.
Lawrence McBride, MD
Dr. Lawrence McBride serves as the Surgical Director of Advanced Heart Failure, Cardiac Transplant and Mechanical Circulatory Assist Device Programs at Florida Hospital. He is a board certified in surgery and thoracic surgery. A graduate of St. Louis University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri. Lawrence was the Surgical Director of Lung Transplant at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Served as the Director of Heart/Lung Transplantation at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville and St. Louis University Medical Center. Lawrence is the published author of nearly 100 articles and abstracts and has been a guest reviewer for the Annals of Thoracic Surgery and the American Society for Artificial Internal Organs Journal. Dr. McBride  is a featured lecturer nationally and internationally.

Alan R. Wladis, MD, FACS
Dr. Wladis is a Board Certified, American Board of Surgeons, Doctor of Medicine from State University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, New York. He has been Fellow in Vascular Surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio; Resident, General Surgery at Albert Einstein Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Alan's specialties includes Arterial aneurysms; Endovascular treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms; Minimally invasive arterial and venous therapy; Carotid artery disease; Aortic, mesenteric, renal and peripheral arterial reconstruction.  more...
Kristine Neal
Kristine Neal is the Public Education Coordinator for TransLife, Central Florida’s not-for-profit, federally-designated organ donation program. In this position, she works to establish and maintain relationships with community partners in an effort to increase understanding and support for organ and tissue donation and donor designation. Mrs. Neal received a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations from the University of Florida followed by a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University.
Michael Keil, MD
Palliative Care Physician, former Medical Director of Hospice of The Comforter.
Dr. Michael Keil has extensive practice and administrative experience including a long career in Emergency Medicine as well as Hospice and Palliative Medicine, private practice, and the National Park Medical Service. He has been involved in the development of Emergency Departments, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Hospice Programs. In recent years he has been a part of the increased demand for End of Life and Palliative Care options serving in a variety of clinical,administrative, and educational roles with a large central Florida Hospice. A graduate of Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Dr. Keil currently is privileged to be assisting in the education of medical students at the UCF College of Medicine.

Puxiao Cen (岑瀑嘯), MD, FACC
Dr. Puxiao Cen is an Invasive Cardiologist and joined Florida Hospital and Florida Heart Group in 2001. She specializes in Cardiovascular Disease prevention and treatment, and has 12 years clinical expertise in Congestive Heart Failure management. Dr. Cen completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, New York City, and Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. She is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Diseases, Nuclear Cardiology and Adult Echocardiography.
